Toward reliable low-density lipoprotein ultrastructure prediction in clinical conditions: A small-angle X-ray scattering study on individuals with normal and high triglyceride serum levels

چکیده
Atherosclerosis is the main killer in west and therefore a major health challenge today. Total serum cholesterol lipoprotein concentrations, used as clinical markers, fail to predict majority of cases, especially between risk scale extremes, due high complexity structure composition. In particular, low-density (LDL) plays key role atherosclerosis development, with LDL size being parameter considered for determining cardiovascular diseases. Determining structural parameters challenging address experimentally under physiological-like conditions. This article describes biochemistry ultrastructure normolipidemic hypertriglyceridemic fractions subfractions using small-angle X-ray scattering. Our results conclude that particles compared healthy individuals 1) have lower core melting temperature, 2) cholesteryl ester ordering their core, 3) are smaller, rounder more spherical below 4) protein-containing shell thinner above temperature.

Application of small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues
ABSTRACT Background: Coherent scattering leads to diffraction effects and especially constructive interferences. Theseinterferences carry some information about the molecular structure of the tissue. As breast cancer isthe most widespread cancer in women, this project evaluated the application of small angleX-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues....
متن کاملSmall-angle x-ray scattering study of human serum low-density lipoproteins with differential reactivity for an arterial proteoglycan.
The structure and thermal behavior of human serum low-density lipoproteins showing either a high or a low reactivity against a proteoglycan isolated from human arteries have been found to be different from each other. It is suggested that modifications in the lipoprotein surface structure induced by the physical state of the neutral lipids could modulate the affinity of the macromolecule for th...

background: the association between the lipid profiles level and the incidence and severity of coronary heart disease (chd) is very pronounced in epidemiological studies, and an inverse relation between physical fitness and the incidence of coronary heart disease has been observed in many studies. the aim of this study was to investigate the impact of a soccer match on lipid parameters of profe...

متن کاملSmall-angle X-ray scattering and differential scanning calorimetry studies on reversibly modified human-serum low density lipoproteins.
Small-angle x-ray scattering diagrams of human serum low density lipoprotein (LDL) were recorded at several temperatures in solutions of different freezing points. It was found that modifications of the x-ray patterns observed on cooling the lipoprotein samples below 0 degrees C are due to reversible alterations of the LDL surface structure induced by the freezing process (independent of temper...
